Perched atop Y Linh Ho Mountain – Lao Chai – Sapa, the wooden houses of Rùa’s House nestle quietly within a small hamlet of local villagers. Just 4 km from Sapa town, it preserves an absolute stillness – no traffic noise, only the laughter of children calling to one another, the gentle hum of daily conversations from ethnic families nearby.
From its mountaintop perch, Rùa’s House offers a 360-degree view. No matter where you stand, your eyes sweep across terraced valleys that change colors with the seasons. Beside the house flows a small flower-lined stream, its water whispering over stones. A short 15-minute walk down to Lao Chai’s crossroads brings you to where H’Mong and Dao women sit patiently, embroidering with delicate hands and speaking fluent English, ready to guide trekking groups. Sometimes, elders and children gather to form a tiny street market, selling baskets of fresh vegetables, handwoven textiles, and small household goods.
Rùa Sapa rests in a small H’Mong village, everything crafted from wood, tucked among greenery. Two wooden houses and a pine-clad bungalow, all roofed with palm leaves, welcome you. From chairs and kitchen cabinets to wardrobes and coat hooks – everything is simple, rustic wood. Guest rooms are set on the second floor, where opening the curtains reveals a balcony overlooking the tranquil Mường Hoa Valley. The first floor is a cozy space to welcome guests, read, sip tea, and, best of all, warm yourself by a Mongolian stove brought from far away. You can roast sweet potatoes or corn until the aroma fills the room.
Stay at Rùa’s House for just a night or two, and you’ll have the whole mountain to yourself – wandering in the crisp Sapa air, free from car horns, dust, and city clamor. Trek through Y Linh Ho Village, listen to the slow rhythm of local life, and savor the still, pure side of Sapa. Enjoy three fresh, local meals of wild vegetables, mountain chicken, and spring fish, all prepared with care by Rùa’s talented housekeeper. At night, curl up warmly in your tent, sharing whispers and stories while the wind and mist drift outside. It’s an experience so enchanting, it feels as if you’ve slipped away into a fairytale forest.
Rùa’s House Mountain Hamlet – A place where you truly live the way locals do, cared for with warmth by your host, embraced by the friendliness of neighbors – exactly the kind of refuge you’ve always dreamed of escaping to.
